History of Wat Kamphaeng

from the Ayutthaya period to the present

Before discussing the history of Wat Kamphaeng And the history of Luang Pu Bai, wanting to talk about the history of Wat Kamphaeng first. Because Reverend Pu Pai Lai is very close to Wat Kamphaeng. It can almost be said that Luang Pu and Wat Kamphaeng are part of each other. Because Wat Kamphaeng is part of each other. Because he did everything of Wat Kamphaeng or the people of Wat Kamphaeng throughout his life.

Wat Kamphaeng at present is a medium-sized temple. Located on the west bank of the Sanam Chai Canal in the area of Moo 6, Samae Dam Subdistrict, Bang Khun Thian District. Bangkok I would like to mention the history of Wat Kamphaeng in the following order of events.

Wat Sawang Arom This is our wall temple as heard from many older people. Even Reverend Grandfather Bai Lai himself once told the writer, “This temple of our wall was originally called Wat Sawang Arom.” We cannot know who built it and when it was built. Based on the assumption of those who have knowledge of archaeology, it has been commendably clarified that “From the observation of the objects and buildings contained in the temple, it can be known that This temple has been deserted at least 2 times, as can be seen that the mondop and viharn (When the Mondop was not yet in ruins) was built on the hill of the ruins of the building that had been in ruins for many years. Want to know what the original building was? Must be excavated according to archaeological principles will be able to know enough to tell what it is But it takes a lot of money.”

This mondop, the builder had the intention of enshrining a Buddha image in the attitude of Samut. which is the personal worship of those who were born on Monday The creator of the Mandapa would have been born on Monday. Or may create a merit dedication to a person who has respect and love. Which was born on that day I have seen someone do it. standing image of the Buddha image Both hands are designed as the chest, attached to the wall of the Mondop, almost the entire body is painted in red. There are only some parts of black and gold. Looks very harmonious. As for the illustration behind the Buddha statue, there are trees, flowers and birds, beautiful natural scenery. It is considered an image that cannot be seen anymore.

As for the construction of the temple, it was probably built on a high hill. Religious places that have been destroyed before as well as the Mondop But in front of or in the east of the Mondop (the hill on which the Mondop and Vihara were built was quite high in the year 1942, which was a very flooded year. but the water did not flood It is the residence of many families of villagers, including cattle. The temple built at that time still exists today as a small temple. Built with brick and mortar clay tile roof Dark gray wooden ceiling There are images of dark or possibly golden asterisks which are hardly obvious. In the middle of some asterisks there is a chain hook. There is a glass lantern hanging for worshiping on important religious days.

Inside this viharn, originally there was only one Luang Por Toh. It is a Buddha image built with red sandstone in the meditation posture. The lap size is 5 cubits wide and 6 cubits high. The head is high to the ceiling of the viharn. Chanu (knees) on both sides almost touch the wall. surrounded by a glass wall There is an entrance and exit and the south front has a palai extending out enough to be beautiful, assuming that

” This Buddha image must have been built at the same time Same as when the first temple was built at Sawang Arom Temple and he understood that he would be the presiding monk in the church before, it might be possible Those who come to restore it must be miserable to see him in the sun and rain. Therefore, a temple was built for after the construction of the church” (the old one which was already in ruins which will be discussed in detail later) and the pagoda has been completed. Currently, the temple has been restored and renovated. With the supervision of Phrakhru Kasem Thammaphinan (Puan Sankhum), there are some differences from the original ones. For example, the glass wall is made in the shape of a parapet. which the original is a simple glass wall Lintel recess only
